You're not a bad person if you don't get a shelter dog.

I'm not a blogger, and I certainly don't claim to know everything about dogs, I just love them and at this point in my life I've chosen to breed Bernedoodles. I've found the internet and social media to be the best place to market my beautiful pups, but at the same time it's a platform for all of the doodle hating, shelter dog rescuers to try and impose their feelings and beliefs on to others, and at the same time try and convince me that it's my faut there are homeless dogs in the world. So, since the facebook and google gods tell me I need to blog in order to have better SEO and so people can see my site I'm going to real quick share my thoughts on a couple of things.
We all love dogs!!! Regardless of whether you buy it, rescue it, adopt it, or scoop it up off of the street, it's a dog. And good for you for loving and caring for that dog.
Charging money for a dog is not greedy. It is simply compensations for making sure we are able to provide families with great pets. We spend many hours a day caring for these puppies and their parents. We miss vacations, we have food bills, vet bills, hip testings, dna testing, advertising, website fees, ruined furniture, stinky houses and cars, grooming expenses.....I assure you we are covering our expenses(most of the time) but we aren't getting rich.
It's ok to want to bring home a new puppy. You can shape it and mold it and let it become a part of your family without any hidden life experiences. That's great!!
Back yard breeders....what does that mean??? I'm serious on this one. We all have to start somewhere. No one is going to sink crazy amounts of money into expensive breeding dogs, wait years for them to become of breeding age, then build a commercial kennel just to find out it's not for them. Most breeder I know have a handful of dogs, make a couple of litters a year, and are able to love and take care of these pups in their home....back yard breeder...ya, probably most are, but is that bad? I like loving for these pups before they go to your home.
It's like anything else, if you work hard, earn money and want the luxury of buying a healthy puppy that you know is going to be a great pet, why not. You deserve the pet that suits YOUR family.
You wouldn't let someone shame you into buying a used car because there are too many in used car lots, there's nothing wrong with having invitro to get a baby even though the world has lots of homeless children, and you wouldn't choose not to build a house just because there's a used one available in the next town. So go get your puppy, buy it, adopt it, rescue it, steal it from an unworthy owner.....it doesn't matter but you deserve a dog that's right for you!
